Connotations and Denotations

1: Apple Logo
It stands for apple the brand,
It only has one meaning,
I think only small children and elderly people would not be able to identify this, as they don't know any of the products.

2: Citroen Logo
It stands for Citroen the car company,
It only has one meaning,
Only small children and people who are not interested in cars or cannot drive cannot understand this, otherwise you would have seen this around or researched cars.

3: The male symbol
It stands for Male,
It only has one meaning,
I think that only small children would not recognize this symbol

4: The Mcdonalds "m"
It is the logo for mcdonalds,
It only has one meaning,
I think everyone would recognize this as it is advertised a lot for example on TV and even on the roads, so everyone would have seen it a lot.

5: Do not iron
It is the symbol, mostly found on clothing that tells the buyer not to iron,
It only has one meaning,
I think only people who do housework or ironing would know this as they would check the clothing.

6: Do not enter
It is the symbol that tells people not to enter an area, room, or building,
It only has one meaning, unless something is put behind it such as a washing machine and then it would mean "Do not wash"
I think everyone would recognize this symbol as it is used in almost everything, such as schools and around in the public.

7: Unisex
It is the symbol that tells the public that this area is unisex,
It could also mean toilets,
I think everyone would know what this means when they see it as it shows both men and women on the symbol and so it is self explanatory.

8: Rolling stones
It is the logo for the rolling stones,
It only has one meaning,
I think only people interested in music or the particular band would know what this stands for, however this image has been used in artists work such as Andy Warhol, and therefore I think most people would have seen this around.

9: The Olympics
It is the five rings that symbolise the olympics,
It only has one meaning, 
I think that everyone would know this as the Olympics is a worldwide event that almost everyone watches.

10: The pawn brokers symbol
It is a symbol to show where the pawnbrokers is, it will be outside every shop,
It only has one meaning,
I don't think that many people would know what this means, only people that are interested.

11: The symbol for wool
It shows the user, usually on clothing, that it is made of wool,
It only has one meaning,
Only clothes buyers and people who wash clothes would know this, I think that young children would not know this as they don't pay attention to this.

12: The union jack
This is the union jack flag for England,
It only has one meaning,
I think everyone would know this as we live in England and we see the flag displayed in public alot.

13:Star of david
 It is a six pointed star of two triangles,
It could have two meanings, it is associated with Judaism as it means "shield of David" and jews often wear it on jewelry, however it is also on the flag of Israel.
I think all people would recogonize it if they saw it however they may not know what it means.

14:Scales of justice
 It is a scale to show that everything is equal and just,
It only has one meaning,
Young children wouldn't know this, anybody to do with the law and the court system and most likely older adults.
